The Midwest Elite Camp was summarized by two college coaches who approached me near the end – one a Power 5 coach and the other a mid-major coach. After a year’s absence due to the CoVid pandemic, they both said that this year’s camp was awesome. All of us here at OnDeck heartily agree.

The day got off to a great start with the first hitter. 2022 Sophia Honse, who hails from Oregon but is interested in schools in the Midwest, launched the first pitch deep into the middle of the adjoining field in the Rosemont Dome. She then put on a show. Pitch after pitch was deposited in Field 2 or hit high on the screen above the right field fence. And that was just the start. Hitter after hitter showed very well in their abilities to hit for power and average, and their ability to slap.

2023s Keira Suntken and Erin Pinter both had solid days. Julia Larson, Kaitlin Ryan, and Addison Koth were equally as impressive. Addison is running a bit under the radar right now. But schools will be interested in her for sure going forward, since she can really swing the bat. 2024 Emma Kavanagh and Jacey Shuler showed well. And 2025 Makayla Boone was amazing.

Several of the pitchers showed very well. 2023 Kaitlin Ryan was very good in both the live pitching segment and the bullpen. This lefty has good velocity and good movement. 2024 Danika Frazier was high velocity with good command. 2025 Elena Krause was just outstanding. She has tremendous potential as a pitcherand she can hit! She will be one of the best in her class in the Midwest.

The young players in the 2026 class were exceptional. Special mention should be made about Scott Norwood’s young Beverly Bandit team. This team is loaded with talent both offensively and defensively. Their title at PGF this past summer might become a regular occurrence in the years to come. They are that good. If this group can stay focused, stay together, and continue to work, they could be a team people will talk about for years to come.

Special thanks must be sent to Bill Conroy, Gerry Quinn, Lizzie Bouck, Jill Harvey, and many other Midwest softball people who help us with this camp and are so dedicated to the game in this region. Their efforts over the years are more and more apparent as the level of play continues to improve. We always look forward to heading to the Chicago for our events and we absolutely can’t wait to get back to Glen Ellyn in July for the 2022 Chicago Jamboree.
