We want to start by thanking Amanda Buck for all her help with this tryout. After a rainout in early April, we were able to get half the tryout rescheduled at Elk Grove High School. We also want to thank Andy Lopez and Oliver Sanchez for coming out to help. Andy is so good with the bat and really makes the defense go smoothly. Oliver was great throwing BP. Accurate, efficient, and quick.
As for the tryout, we had a great group of players. They were a lot of fun to watch play. Some we have seen before and some that were attending their first tryout. There were a number of players that just need to develop their arm stregnth and refine their skill set and we will be tracking them over the next year.
It is important to remember that in all tryouts we are looking for skill sets and athleticism. We do it this way to make sure an athlete can hold her own in the Jamboree or National Camp setting. If the skill sets of the player can hold up under the rigor of an OnDeck workout, and the prospect is athletic enough to match the athleticism of the other players, then we are good to go. It is our feeling that attending coaches will find that athlete intriguing enough to follow and evaluate on their own.

If you were not selected, keep working on your skill set and athleticism. Do not be discouraged. We want to do what is best for you and help you be successful on the softball field.

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
These numbers have also been posted to your profile. An Allister Index is not given with Tryout ODM numbers.
